About the Rail Tour: What you need to know before booking

HOW LONG IS THE TOUR?

The train journey lasts approximately 3h30 to 4h15. Delays may occur due to railway or road logistical issues, completely beyond our control. The railway line is shared with freight trains. The passenger train may be stopped at times. Therefore, we do not recommend taking this tour if you have a flight on the same day.If you choose the tour anyway, we are not responsible for the end time, as times are estimated and subject to delays. 

WHAT IS THE TOUR LIKE?

The Curitiba-Morretes train ride (or vice versa) is an unmissable experience, highly praised by travel experts and tour guides. Along its 68 km route, the train passes through 13 tunnels and bridges , offering a breathtaking view of the lush Atlantic ForestPrepare to marvel at a verdant landscape, a true treasure of biodiversity. The construction of this railway, carried out between 1880 and 1885, is full of fascinating history. The guides on board will share details about the challenges faced during the work, considered one of the greatest achievements of the 19th century.This train ride provides the perfect refuge to enjoy nature and disconnect from the daily routine.

It is a contemplative tour: There is no entertainment on board and the internet does not work in Serra do Mar. 

CAN I RESERVE A CERTAIN SEAT OR SPECIFIC SIDE ON THE TRAIN?

In the tourist category, seats are issued in sequential order and we have no influence on this. In other categories, seats are issued according to the number of people and what is available at the time of issuance. We do not have access to the seat assignment system. Preferences are passed on, but we cannot guarantee them. As the train maneuvers, places that are on one side one day may be on the other the next day. By guaranteeing your tour in advance, the seats from the same reservation will be together. If we only have isolated places, we will notify you in advance.

CAN THE TRAIN TRIP BE CANCELLED?

Isso acontece raramente! Por questões de segurança ou operacionais,  totalmente alheias ao nosso controle, o passeio pode ser cancelado eventualmente. A Serra Verde Express é responsável pela operação do trem e segue orientações de segurança definidas pela RUMO, concessionária da ferrovia. Se por ventura a operação do trem for cancelada no dia do seu passeio, avisaremos assim que tivermos essa informação. Em tais casos você receberá alternativas de passeios, agendamento de outra data ou o reembolso proporcional aos serviços usados no passeio em questão.

Se a notificação sobre o cancelamento acontecer durante o passeio, a empresa do trem providenciará transporte de retorno com empresas de Curitiba que se deslocarão até Morretes para fazer o transporte de todos com segurança até a Rodoferroviária de Curitiba. Avisaremos assim que soubermos sobre o horário de retorno em casos assim. 

DO YOU HAVE OPTIONS FOR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?

Please inform us at the time of your reservation if you have any restrictions. We will pass it on to the train company, but as it is a very large operation, with hundreds of customers, sometimes errors happen and specific snacks are not available. If you have any restrictions in your diet, it's best to bring your own snack just in case. 

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE LIKE FOR CHILDREN UP TO 5 YEARS OLD? 

Unfortunately there is no baby changing facilities or entertainment facilities. There is no internet on the train. Children up to 5 years old sit on their parents' lap and have a snack for them is NOT included. If you would like a seat and snack for your child, reserve one for them within the 6 to 12 years old rate. 

ARE THERE SALES OF ITEMS ON THE TRAIN? 

You can buy souvenirs from the tour inside the train. The items are cheaper than what you will find in Morretes. In the tourist category, they sell drinks once during the tour. If you are in this category, bring water and an extra snack just in case.

IS THERE BREAKFAST ON THE TRAIN?

It's always better to have breakfast at the hotel! On the train you will have a snack that varies depending on the category you book. See details in your tour description. Snack items may always vary. 

HOW DOES LUNCH ON THE TOUR WORK?

There is no lunch on the train! It is served in partner restaurants in Morretes or Antonina. If the tour you book includes lunch, is the typical meal of the region, which includes barreado – beef stew with side dishes such as fish, shrimp, rice and salad. Lunch items are served separately and you can help yourself to whatever options you like. In case of restriction, please get in touch before booking the tour to check if we can accommodate you. The meal is served at a table for the group. Normally it is not possible to have separate tables for couples or families. 

DOES SPECIAL PARANÁ OWN THE TRAIN?
No. We are an inbound tourism agency, specialists in tours in Curitiba and the region and we sell the train tour together with other companies. The train tour is the responsibility of Serra Verde Express, the tour concessionaire and we are an official partner of theirs.  

HOW DOES STUDENT FARE WORK?

It applies only for students in Brazil with official student cards .

COMO É UM PASSEIO COMPARTILHADO?

The transportation will pick up people in different places before the tour starts. You will get the train tickets at arrival in the rail station. Seats are numbered. In case you go directly to the rail station, you will get instructions at arrival. The guide will inform times during the tour. As this tour includes several people, it can not be adapted to personal wishes. You will have the opportunity to meet new people.

ALL TRAIN SEATS ARE SOLD?

Sim.  Caso tenha interesse em ter uma mesa exclusiva nas opções da categoria boutique (6 vagões diferentes) ou luxo, terá que pagar por todos os lugares nela, conforme a disponibilidade no momento da emissão das passagens. Informe nossa equipe previamente se preferir essa alternativa. 

MAY I BE RELOCATED AFTER THE TOUR CONFIRMATION?

São situações pontuais que acontecem raramente e estão fora do nosso controle. Os vagões da categoria boutique (Barão do Serro Azul, Camarote, Imperial, Guardiões do Marumbi, Carmen Silva Santos e Bove) e também os da categoria luxo são únicos. Em caso de manutenção ou alguma situação inesperada, você será realocado para a melhor opção disponível. Caso tenhamos essa informação antes do dia do passeio, avisaremos e daremos as opções disponíveis. Caso haja alguma diferença tarifária, esta diferença será reembolsada. 

WHAT IS A SHARED TOUR?

It is a tour that takes place in groups and has a fixed itinerary. It is not possible to adapt it to personal preferences. Transport will stop at various hotels or addresses to pick up customers at the beginning of the tour and at the end.
