Want to include special and little-known places in your route? You will love the Dutch Settlements in the Campos Gerais, a beautiful region of Paraná just two hours from Curitiba. The Dutch presence is very important here.

Tour available from Tuesday to Sunday.

Notice how the landscapes change as you move away from Curitiba. The Campos Gerais are famous for agriculture and dairy production. It is a wealthy region and with beautiful sceneries.

The first stop will be theCarambeí Historical Park, the largest open-air museum in the country. There you will see the beginning of the Carambeí colony from 1912, when the Dutch pioneers arrived in the region. The park is fascinating, with replicas of the first buildings. A beautiful place for photos!

At Koffiehuis, the park’s café, you can sample Dutch and Indonesian specialties (Indonesia used to be a Dutch colony). We recommend the Bitterballen ‒ Dutch Beef Dumplings. Lunch is not included in the tour. If you prefer, we can stop somewhere else for lunch.

The next stop is theCastrolanda Immigration Memorial. Castrolanda is considered the “milk capital” of Brazil and the Dutch who arrived here from 1951 contributed to this fame.

The Memorial Mill is the largest windmill outside the Netherlandsand is very impressive. You’ll also see an organ at the entrance and you can climb the entire mill to learn how it works (stairway access).

The last stop is the “sweetest” of the tour. TheFrederika’s cafehas delicious shepherd pies and fruit pies that you can taste and even buy to take away (not included). The place, besides being beautiful, attracts people from all over the region.

Departure from the hotel or central address of Curitiba at 9 AM.

Drive to Carambeí. Enjoy the landscapes of Campos Gerais on the way.

Visit to the Carambeí Historical Park, the largest open-air historical museum in Brazil.

Lunch break (optional). On Sundays, the buffet is made up of Dutch and Indonesian specialties. Other days, Brazilian food in a restaurant outside the park.

Trip to Castrolanda.

Visit to the Mill of the Immigration Memorial. Access to the mill is done only by stairs.

Before returning to Curitiba, stop at Frederika’s Cafe in Carambeí to try the shepherd pies and fruit pies (not included).

  1. Paula Nívea Lomardo

Perfect tour with the guide Vivian, who gave us a lot of information and took many pictures. A wonderful place! Special Paraná is an outstanding travel agency. Nice service from begin to end. Thanks a lot.

  2. Silvia Maria Grumbach

We consider the tour in Castrolanda perfect. The place is beautiful, very well kept. We felt warmly welcome there. The restaurant was nice and we had fresh food there. The visits to the museu and to the windmill very very interesting and we learned a lot of new things. We did not know about the previous preparation for the Dutch to immigrate to Brazil to have a successful life here. Carambeí was not really our thing – it is mostly scenery in our opinion.

  3. Hedney de Alcântara Araújo

The guide was very kind. The tour was pleasant and we could know more about culture and history. I reccommend this tour strongly. The agency was very kind and we booked the tour without any problems.
