‒ You will descend the Serra do Mar by car or van to Morretes. The weather allowing, the trip will be along the winding Estrada da Graciosa. If it’s raining, it’s safer to go via BR-277. The two routes are beautiful ‒ you’ll see the luscious green of the Atlantic Forest.

‒ Free time to see the charming Morretes with its Rio Nhundiaquara and have lunch. We suggest to try the typical dish of the region, which is the “barreado” ‒ a juicy beef stew served with cassava flour, rice and banana. But there are many other options there!

‒ Embark in the afternoon to return by train to Curitiba. The train normally leaves at 3 PM. The train ride amazes people from all over the world. In this tour, the ticket to the tourist class is included. This category has Portuguese speaking guide. Other categories to have English speaking guide and can be booked with a surcharge. Ask us for that. Be astounded by all the green around you during the tour, which lasts approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes.

The stretch of railroad that connects the capital of Paraná to the coast goes through the Serra do Mar. Its construction began in 1880 and was a great challenge for the engineers of the time.The route begins in Morretes, few meters above see level until it reaches Curitiba, 934 height. The train crosses the largest continuous preservation area of Atlantic Rain Forest in Brazil. This forest is considered one of the five richest biomes in the world.

It is one of the 10 most spectacular rail tours in the world according to the british newspaper The Guardian. A tour that invites to nature contemplation! The onboard guide explains the history of the construction and curiosities.

The distance between Morretes and Curitiba is about 70 km and the journey takes approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes. The route includes bridges, tunnels, rivers, waterfalls, canyons and is made on a train from the 1960s.

The train goes slowly and delays may occur due to the traffic of freight trains and technical railroad issues. Feel free to bring your additional snack or drinks (amount that fits in your backpack).

There are several classes of cars, with different levels of comfort and ambiance. Thetrain ticketincluded is in thetourist class, which is the most numerous, with 22 wagons. The seats are cushioned and a guide on board will explain everything in Portuguese. Also included is one water or one soda per person and simple snack. You can bring something extra if you prefer. In case you prefer other categories (in English), we can send you a tailor-made offer.

Required Documents: all must bring original documents or certified copies with photos. Children under 12 years of age can travel with an original birth certificate or a certified copy of this document. The current Brazilian legislation applies in case the child is traveling without the parents.
