‒ Be picked up at your hotel or central addressfor the train station (round trip). Pick up time from 7 AM and return at approximately 5 PM. If you prefer, you can drive to the Railway Station on your own.

The tour includes the Morretes – Curitiba train ticket in the tourist class, with a guide on board, a little snack and one water or soda per person. The route is a real journey in time, in a train from 1960’s that crosses a beautiful stretch of Atlantic Rain Forest.
‒ Enjoy the typical lunch and taste the “barreado” ‒ a specialty of the Coast of Paraná. It is a very juicy beef stew that is served with rice, cassava flour and bananas. As side dishes you will also have salad, fish and shrimp (all separately). If you are vegetarian, vegan or celiac, please inform us when you make the reservation.
‒ Visit Morretes and Antonina, two nice little colonial towns with their old houses, history and typical products (cachaça – a kind of sugar cane rum, banana candies, handmade products).

ABOUT THE TOURIST TRAIN TOUR TO MORRETES
The stretch of railroad that connects the capital of Paraná to the coast goes through the Serra do Mar. Its construction began in 1880 and was a great challenge for the engineers of the time.The route begins in Curitiba, 934 meters abovesea level and crosses the largest continuous preservation area of Atlantic Rain Forest in Brazil until it reaches Curitiba. This forest is considered one of the five richest biomes in the world.
This journey is frequently cited, by Brazilian and foreign experts, as one of the most beautiful railway rides in the world! It is a contemplative trip and the guide on board explains the whole history of the construction of the railway and curiosities.
The distance between Curitiba and Morretes is almost 70 km and the journey takes approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes. The route includes bridges, tunnels, rivers, waterfalls, canyons and is made on a train from the 1960s.
The train goes slowly and delays may occur due to the traffic of freight trains and technical railroad issues.
ABOUT TOURIST CARS
‒ It is the largest class and currently has 22 wagons. Most cars seat 48 people, with cushioned seats and an aisle in the middle. The cars have toilettes.
‒ The trip includes the services of a guide that tells the whole history and curiosities of the railroad (in Portuguese / English). Also included are one bottle of water or soda per person and a simple snack. Feel free to bring your additional snack or drinks (amount that fits in your backpack). The snack in this category is very simple – feel free to bring something extra with you. The guide on board speaks only Portuguese – see the other categories to have English speaking guide.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to choose the seats, but they are numbered to facilitate boarding. Reservations are made in sequential order, always occupying window and aisle seats (side by side).
ITINERARY OF THE CURITIBA-MORRETES TRAIN RIDE
7 – 7:45 AM ‒ Transfer to the railway station from hotels and central addresses. The van goes to several hotels, please be ready at 7 AM.
8:30 AM – approx. 12:45 PM ‒ Train ride to Morretes crossing the Serra do Mar. The tourist class includes a tour guide, snack and one water or soda per person.
You will visit Morretes and Antonina, two historic towns. Morretes has the beautiful Nhundiaquara River as background, the main church and commerce. Antonina boasts a beautiful bay, the church and the historical houses as attractions. The visit to Morretes also includes Hisgeopar, a hall where animated puppets show aspects of the history of Paraná ‒ very humorous and fun.
Lunch is included and may be in Morretes or Antonina at a previously booked restaurant. The menu is typical of the region, with “barreado” – beef stew that is served with rice, cassava flour and banana and side dishes such as salad, fish and shrimp. If you are vegetarian, vegan or celiac, please inform us in advance when you make your reservation. We will do our best to meet your needs during lunch.
The reservation will be for the group, which means you will share the table with other travelers. An excellent opportunity to meet people and perhaps make new friends.
Return via Graciosa Road or BR-277, depending on the weather conditions.
5:30 PM ‒ Estimated arrival in Curitiba and return to your hotel or addresss.
Normal departure time: vans arrive between 7 and 7:45 AM at hotels and central addresses in Curitiba. Be ready at 7 AM, please.

Required Documents: all must bring original documents or certified copies with photos. Children under 12 years of age can travel with an original birth certificate or a certified copy of this document. The current Brazilian legislation applies in case the child is traveling without the parents.
