‒ Be picked up at your hotel or central addressat 7:45 AM. The tour is private, which means the vehicle and the guide are there just for you. So, you do not have to be driven to other hotels or wait for other people.
‒ Experience one of the most famous train journeys in the world! The tour includes a train ticket in the tourist class, a tour guide on board (in Portuguese) and one bottle of water or soda per person and a simple snack. Other categories have English speaking guide – ask for the extra fee. The route is a real journey in time, in a train from 1960’s that crosses a beautiful stretch of Atlantic Rain Forest.
Arriving in Morretes, you will meet your guide and will go directly to Pontal do Sul. The guide will have provided a more substantial snack for you to eat on the way. Therefore, you will have more time to enjoy Ilha do Mel. From Pontal do Sul, it takes another 30 minutes by boat to Ilha do Mel.
Enjoy Ilha do Mel in your own way! You will have approximately 3 hours on the most beautiful island of Paraná. Do you a beautiful view of the island? You can climb the 144 steps of the Lighthouse hill and see the marvelous vista from up high. Do you prefer to enjoy the beach? The Praia do Farol is very long and quiet and Praia de Fora has many waves ‒ your choice! Do you want to rent a bike and go to the fortress? It’s an excellent option too. The guide will give you all the pointers and will be with you on the island.
ABOUT THE TRAIN RIDE
The stretch of railroad that connects the capital of Paraná to the coast goes through the Serra do Mar. Its construction began in 1880 and was a great challenge for the engineers of the time.The route begins in Curitiba, 934 meters abovesea level and crosses the largest continuous preservation area of Atlantic Rain Forest in Brazil until it reaches Curitiba. This forest is considered one of the five richest biomes in the world.
This journey is frequently cited, by Brazilian and foreign experts, as one of the most beautiful railway rides in the world! It is a contemplative trip and the guide on board explains the whole history of the construction of the railway and curiosities.
The distance between Curitiba and Morretes is almost 70 km and the journey takes approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes. The route includes bridges, tunnels, rivers, waterfalls, canyons and is made on a train from the 1960s.
The train goes slowly and delays may occur due to the traffic of freight trains and technical railroad issues. Feel free to bring your additional snack or drinks (amount that fits in your backpack).
The include train ticket is in the tourist class, which is the largest, with 22 cars. Most cars seat 48 people, with cushioned seats and an aisle in the middle. All cars have a toilet. The trip includes a guide on board, who will tell the history and curiosities of the railway (in Portuguese). You can ask in your booking for other categories (extra fee applies). ABOUT ILHA DO MEL
Ilha do Mel, at 115 km from Curitiba, is anenvironmental preservation areaand 96% of the Island is part of a state reserve. Ilha do Mel is surrounded by beautiful beaches and due to its scenic and unspoiled beauty, it is a very sought after destination for those who want to rest and leave the hurly-burly of the cities behind. There are no cars on Ilha do Mel ‒ you will walk along sandy trails. Take slippers, bathing suits, towel and light clothes.
To get to Ilha do Mel, we will take a boat in Pontal do Sul(30 minutes of crossing) and we will go toBrasília Beach, where we will begin to know the beauties of Ilha do Mel.
Among the most interesting stops is the Farol das Conchas (Shells Lighthouse), built in 1872 and to this day a point of reference for boats entering the Paranaguá Bay; theFortaleza Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres (Fortress of Our Lady of Pleasures) is another gorgeous place to see. You can also enjoy the beaches, such as theFarol, Praia de Foraand Praia Grande.

ITINERARY TRAIN TOUR AND ILHA DO MEL – PRIVATE
7:45 AM – Our guide will pick you up at your hotel and central addresses
8:30 AM – approx. 12:45 PM – Train ride across the Serra do Mar up to Morretes in the tourist class (car with Portuguese speaking guide, snack and water or soda, one per person)
Train seats are numbered and reserved in advance in sequential order.
Transfer to Pontal do Sul (at the dock where boats depart)
Snack Box on the way (e.g. sandwich, cake, juice, fruit)
about . 2 – 2:30 PM – Crossing to Ilha do Mel by boat.
2:30 – 5 PM – Time to enjoy Honey Island. We suggest to visit the Lighthouse (walking) or the fortress (if you prefer, rent a bike). You can also stay on the beach enjoying nature.
about 5 PM – return by boat to Pontal do Sul (according to boat schedule).
Return to Curitiba. Estimated arrival time about 7 PM.

IMPORTANT! Delays and cancellations may occur due to technical railroad issues. We do not recommend booking this tour if you have a scheduled flight on the same day.
Required Documents: all must bring original documents or certified copies with photos. Children under 12 years of age can travel with an original birth certificate or a certified copy of this document. The current Brazilian legislation applies in case the child is traveling without the parents.
