ABOUT THE TRAIN RIDE

The stretch of railroad that connects the capital of Paraná to the coast goes through the Serra do Mar. Its construction began in 1880 and was a great challenge for the engineers of the time. The route begins in Curitiba, 934 meters abovesea level and crosses the largest continuous preservation area of Atlantic Rain Forest in Brazil until it reaches Curitiba. This forest is considered one of the five richest biomes in the world.

This journey is frequently cited, by Brazilian and foreign experts, as one of the most beautiful railway rides in the world! It is a contemplative trip and the guide on board explains the whole history of the construction of the railway and curiosities.

The distance between Curitiba and Morretes is almost 70 km and the journey takes approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes. The route includes bridges, tunnels, rivers, waterfalls, canyons and is made on a train from the 1960s.

The train goes slowly and delays may occur due to the traffic of freight trains and technical railroad issues.
